![]() ![]() Trying to get flank shots as often as possible, or exposed shots when you can. It takes time and practice to make a fine mixture of "High Speed, Low Drag," and "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast." Using good habits like considering how many turns it would take you to get to the objective from starting point. When the fight starts, I make it a point to get that fight ended within two turns, three tops. I work within the turn timers, and look at how far I can safely move, then set up my team. I look at how I can get the most out of each turn, while using as few resources, or keeping my guys as healthy as possible. But for the missions with the timer, I definitely get into the mindset of moving with a purpose. Some missions(I use the Long War 2 overhaul), I can afford to take my time(and some of those have me more on edge than the ones with timers). To look at the battlefield, and see how you can use it to your advantage. But the important thing is, that you can get better, if you have the mind to learn, apply, improvise, adapt, and overcome. If you can take criticism and look at it without feeling insulted, the answer would be you suck at the game. I know of XCOM, XCOM EU, XCOM EW, XCOM 2, XCOM WotC. Just keep playing and at some point you'll get a little more confident. If I win this campaign too, I'm gonna give Commander difficulty a shot.Īgain: Don't give up. ![]() I'm now playing my second campaign and I am doing better, but sometimes I still feel desperate. It took me forever to turn things around, but I am glad I pushed through. Not like a cakewalk, but way less intimidating then when you first start out. Once you've learned what every thing does and how/when to use it, the game becomes "easier". Don't push too hard and operate as a team. I decided to be more careful from that point on. On the battlefield everything went fine until I lost my entire elite squad mid way through. I didn't know what to build or what research to prioritize. So, over a year later did they address this issue or do you all just think I suck at the game? -)ĭon't give up! I was in a horrible spot half way during my first playthrough. Most of my crew wounded, and I kept getting messages to build things, but I wasn't getting any resources coming in. Some changes to data files were suggested to make it easier, but I still got frustrated by it. Someone mentioned that a lot of people were complaining X-COM1 was too easy so they greatly increased the difficulty. I looked into it and others were saying the same thing. Timed missions required you to rush, causing many more KIA and wounded. Then X-COM2 comes out and I found it impossible to play. Then X-COM EU comes out and I loved it as much as the first. I was killing it.Originally posted by 2nd Line Oldman:I loved the original X-COM1, X-COM2 was so so and X-COM3, totally different, didn't like it. I was completing missions with Excellent to Flawless ratings. You gather your opening squad, get some quick promotions, and start building some class variety across team members. The games first few missions are great introductions to the game. Secondly, the game throws a ton of systems at you within the first half-hour or so while also ramping up the sense of urgency with these "emergent" events like supply drops, raids, Avatar stuff, etc. Stuttering and frame drops are pretty common and loading times suck. ![]() I remember hearing a lot of praise for XCOM and found XCOM 2 in my PS+ catalog so I decided to give it a shot.įirst off, the game runs sort of like ass on PS4. I don't have too much experience with these sort of turn-based games but I did play Wasteland 3 last year and it was one of my GOTYs so I've been looking for another similar game to scratch that itch. Started playing it on PS4 a few days ago and was having a blast until last night. ![]()
